Although the weather outside was frightful, the atmosphere at Unitas Youth Zone on Saturday, 7th December, was truly delightful as we hosted our much-anticipated Winter Wonderland event.
The free community event welcomed 570 attendees, including families, friends, and members, making it one of our best yet! Each corner of Unitas was buzzing with festive spirit and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy.
The day was packed with fun and festive activities for guests of all ages. Children loved bouncing on the inflatables in the sports hall, and our climbing wall offered a unique twist with “Climbing with the Grinch,” delighting thrill-seekers. In the kitchen, creativity flourished as visitors decorated gingerbread, while the wellness room provided a chance to get festive with face painting and a barber on hand. One of the event’s highlights was our magical Santa’s Grotto, where children received special gifts, thanks to the generosity of our supporters.
The Christmas market was a bustling hub of activity, showcasing a variety of stalls offering festive treats, gift baskets, handmade soaps, and scented candles. We were also thrilled to welcome Barnet Community Police, who shared information about their safety initiatives, and Barnet Carers, a charity providing essential support to informal carers across the borough.
Adding to the festive cheer, our raffle drew plenty of excitement with prizes that included a luxurious overnight stay at The Grove Golf and Spa Hotel and other incredible donations, such as cases of fine wine, generously donated by Morgan Sindall – who deliver housing and mixed-use partnership schemes, fit out and construction services across the UK. Guests enjoyed delicious hot chocolate as they watched captivating performances by our talented young members, who sang and danced, spreading holiday joy throughout the space.
Our Winter Wonderland event beautifully showcased Unitas’ role as a welcoming and inclusive space for young people and the wider Barnet community. While this festive celebration was a standout moment, it is just one example of how Unitas is making a difference.
